A buddy convinced me that tall engineer boots without a steel toe would be lighter on the feet and more comfortable for all-day wear. A special arrangement with Chippewa was arranged to have these boots made without a steel toe, and I got myself a pair. They are very light on the feet. Personally, I like engineer boots to have that old, well-worn character, so I "aged" them with some muddin'.
These boots are traditional engineer style, with a single strap and buckle across the instep, a buckle at the top of the 17" shaft to adjust the fit, and are made of unlined oil-tanned soft leather with a standard neoprene sole.
I have a pair of well-worn and well-mudded steel-toed version of these boots, plus a newer, cleaner pair. They're great boots!
