These are Chippewa model 71419 strapless trooper boots. They are made of the same type of "high shine" leather that their well-regarded engineer boots are made of, just without the engineer strap and buckle across the instep of the boot. I placed an order for these boots when offered in November, 2013. Due to production problems, the boots did not arrive until April, 2014.
These boots are 17 inches tall, made of all leather, are fully leather lined, and have a steel toe. The boots were not made like their engineer boot brothers. The boot shafts had to be stretched before I could wear them. Also, the leather seems to be thinner than other Chippewa Hi-Shine boots that I own. The soles are smooth Nitrile rubber--not nearly as good Vibram lug soles. But overall, the boots are well-made and look good.
