I have long admired how these boots look on RCMP officers. The boots are dressy and professional-looking. I finally arranged to buy a pair of these boots in 2015. These boots are made by Alberta Boot Company of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The boots were custom-made for me at 17.25 inches (44cm) high. They are made from heavy duty cowhide in a 6.5-8 oz leather. They have a full cowhide leather lining of 2.5-3oz.
The sole was supposed to be Vibram, but came in full smooth leather and are unsuitable for wear when riding a motorcycle.
The boots have a large Bal-laced front lacing adjustment, which I found out personally is critical to a good fit. Note: the ladder-lacing technique shown here is not the way these boots should be tied, according to a Mountie who provided feedback to me. They are supposed to be tied with one lace. I choose to violate the lacing pattern because a mid-tied ladder lace makes these boots easier to pull on, tie up, and remove at the end of the day. The top closure is a laced gusset.
While I provided what I thought to be accurate measurements when I ordered them, the boots did not fit when they arrived and I had to send them back. The boots were courteously re-made, and they fit when they were returned to me. These boots must be worn with breeches.
Unfortunately, the insole is hard, but a thin insole helps with comfort.
May 2021 update: I can not wear these boots due to a problem with veins in my legs -- a residual effect of a DVT I got in late 2019. I am open to an offer to buy them. These boots are roughly U.S. size 10.5 M (medium) and are in great condition having been worn very few times.
