This motorcycle jacket is an upgrade to the Rev'It lineup of hi-viz (high visibility) armored protective motorcycle riding gear. The company is headquartered in The Netherlands. The gear is European fit (zipper on the opposite side from U.S.-made products.)
This jacket is designed to provide safety and comfort during the heat of summer as well as during the cooler shoulder seasons of Spring and Autumn.
The upgraded Rev'It Tornado 3 jacket was recommended on mcgearhub.com. I have communicated with the author of the reviews posted on this website. His advice and information is the most thorough and helpful I have ever seen.
This jacket combines durable open mesh panels that flow air through it. It comes with CE-approved limb armor in the shoulders and elbows. I also bought additional ventilated back armor as well. That armor slips into a convenient pocket on the inside of the back of the jacket. It also has a removable 2-layer inner liner that zips and snaps in to provide both waterproofing and insulation. It is wearable separately as a jacket, too. (Note: because the insulated lining is waterproof, it gets hot to wear in warm weather.) This jacket also is hard to wear when the air temperature is above 80F (26C) and dew points are above 60F (15C). Even with air flow, when it is really warm and humid, no amount of ventilation makes this jacket comfortable to wear. At least, not for a guy like me with built-in "extra layers" that are not removable.
This jacket is flexible, lightweight, and in such a reflectively white in color. It is highly visible from great distances. This jacket's predecessor, the Tornado 1, saved my hide in a crash on May 31, 2016. I had no (zero) abrasions in a crash at highway speed.
Note: I also tried out the matching Rev'IT Tornado 3 riding pants. Unfortunately, no matter what I did to adjust the size, they were too restrictive for me. At the age of being in my mid-60s, my hips do not swivel or swing like they once did when I was younger. After removing the rain liner in those pants, as hard as I tried, I could not swing my leg over the saddle of my motorcycle with these pants on. I returned them. Some guys just aren't made to be able to wear riding pants -- or conversely, some riding pants are not made to fit some guys.
