Booted Harleydude's Harley

2008 Harley-Davidson FLHR (Road King Classic)

I saved long and hard to achieve my goal of buying a new Harley without having to take out a loan. This bike was a Road King Classic, designed for touring and enjoying a comfortable ride. I owned this bike from May 2008 to February 2021, when I sold it. Reasons for that are explained on my blog, here.

I had to change the bars so the bike would fit me better, and add a driver's back rest to improve the comfort. I enjoyed riding this bike with friends in a club with which I used lead rides. They club fell apart in 2018.

This bike handled very well due to its weight and low center of gravity, though it was challenging to maneuver at slow speeds.

I added a CB radio and a GPS to this bike to help me keep in communication with fellow riders and assist with navigation. I also added motolights in the front and a full LED light bar in the back for added visibility.

I did not make any other changes to the bike -- it was great as it was. (I especially did not want the added weight of a larger engine displacement, or loud pipes.)
